苗．春祭究竟是怎樣的活動？
Many people ask: what exactly is the
Sprouts Art Festival?
With all the music festivals we have
already, why do we need another one?
With such a low budget, and having to
scrape at every possibility, why bother?
What is
Sprouts Art Festival?
跟紙寮坑藝術農工場揭櫫的深刻意旨一樣，
我們要重新定義自我的存在，我們關注文化的傳承和交融，
不設限兼容並蓄的變動過程才是「我們」
──臺灣的主體價值所在。
Just as what the Paper Hut Stream
Artlabors' Farm has shown us,
We must redefine our own existence, and
nurture the mingling and passing on of our cultures.
An ever-changing process of embracing all,
without boundaries, that is us
—that is the heart of the Taiwanese value.
所以苗．春祭不同於其他所有以放鬆、狂歡，
只能短暫釋放資本結構異化的工作框架角色的逆反作用，
導致上癮般的療癒過程而形成的消費模式，
並且劑量越用越大，「狂野」的程度越來越講究「規模」，
終究還是落入市場經濟的迴圈中；
So, Sprouts Art Festival is unlike other
relaxing, reveling festivals,
which merely act as a counter-process to
temporarily relieve the alienation of capitalist society.
Those kinds of festivals promote consumerism
for an almost addictive therapy,
with need for a higher dosage each time, and
more and more attention given to the size of the “wildness”,
ultimately still falling back into the loop
of market economics.

我們是一群認真重頭建構生活實踐可能的平凡人，
我們不敢輕忽人類文明的積累，不想盲目追求無目的的狂歡暴烈，
我們深切明白，理性與感性的平衡才能維繫我們的平安和喜悅，
但這並不意味著苗．春祭將排擠創造實驗的可能性，
反而因為這個沉穩的基盤，
我們可以承受真正逼近生命內在的慾望底層的各種探索努力，
而不致流於虛浮的形式主義。
We are a group of average people dedicated
to reconstructing the possibility of practical life,
we deeply value what the history of human
civilization has left for us,
and we do not blindly seek revelry and
chaos.
We know, in the depths of our hearts, that
only through the balance between sense and sensibility, can we maintain our
peace and happiness,
but this does not mean that Sprouts Art
Festival is against experimentation,
quite the opposite, because we have this solid base,
we can withstand any efforts to approach
the most underlying desires of life itself,
without the risk of becoming a mere
formality.
「我們」當中始終會有清明的意識，
當某個你恣意飛騰旋轉，
險將掉落生命之輪的邊緣時，
可以像麥田捕手一樣接住你、時刻守望著你 !
你儘可以竭盡你的氣力窮碧落、下黃泉......
Within us
there is always a consciousness, clear as day,
that when you are flying, twirling with
ease,
to the point of nearly falling off the edge
of the wheel of life,
that we will catch you, like the Catcher in
the Rye, looking over you at all times.
You can, with all your might, attempt to
see what all heaven and hell have to offer…
每個「你」都將是這個祭禮的主體，
就像我們天堂般的島嶼：臺灣，也該是世界的主體，
眾人聚合的所有效益，也將任由所有參與的人領受，
七天的共同生活，將是全生命的洗禮和體驗，
支持每一個人領略平凡生活原本的美好，重現生命本來的尊貴！
Every you
is an autonomous subject in this ceremony, just as our heavenly island:
Taiwan, should be an autonomous subject in this world.
All benefits that the people have gathered,
will be given back to all those who were among the gatherers.
Seven days of communal living, will be an experience
that recreates your life,
we support everyone
on their journey seeking the gifts of everyday life, to present again life’s
original nobility.

What is different about Sprouts Art
Festival?
我們更有別於同樣標舉普世價值，瞭解全球在地化(Glocal)意涵，
卻只能空泛行銷呼喊，游牧閃現的不明團體組織，
始終只有短暫的消費交換關係；
We are different from those unidentified
organizations, who hold high the universal values, who understand the meaning
of Glocalization,
But who can only shout their slogans for
empty marketability, who come and go at will,
Who, in the end, have only a short monetary
relationship with you.
苗．春祭所有活動產生的邊際效益，
不但不會投入另一個盲目消費的迴圈，
而是積極注入長期建設與組織建構當中。
All marginal benefits of Sprouts Art
Festival will not be reentering the loop of blind consumerism, but will instead
be actively returned to efforts of long term construction and community
building.
我們始終在這裡，
我們會用同樣嚴謹的態度建立完整帳目和紀錄，
對每一個參與者開放永久監督的權力。
We will always be here, we will be no less
rigorous with our accounting and records,
And we forever give any participants the
right to oversight.
